TODAY IS TOMORROW

Kwame’s nose was so cold it hurt. He had to rub the frost out of his eyelashes in order to open his eyes. He wished he hadn’t. If he’d kept his eyes closed, he wouldn’t have seen the bats clinging to his bedroom ceiling. But he did see them. In fact, he saw right through the frosty creatures—bones and fangs and all.

Before Kwame has time to panic, he has another visitor: Nouse-Mouse, the virtual computer mouse from KaleidoKen in the Universe-Next-Door. Nouse-Mouse identifies the bats as Time Vampires, busily sucking minutes and hours out of Kwame’s life.

Nouse-Mouse sends Kwame and three friends on a KaleidoKen adventure to the Caverns of the Timely River. Their mission: to defeat the Time Vampires and recover the ‘gift of the present.’ This ‘most Gallant Company of Champions, Defenders of All Time’ may face an impossible task. Tempo, the metro-gnome gatekeeper of the Caverns, tells them Time Vampires have been destroying the order of Time by unbraiding carefully woven strands of Past, Present, and Future. Dally the Dawdle-Doodle proves the point by tricking the friends into the middle of next week. Kwame, Nouse-Mouse says, is living on borrowed Time. Will his Time run out before the Champions can find the Time and re-braid its tangled strands?

Major Lesson

Everybody loves Kwame. And everybody wants a piece of his time. Kwame learns that he can satisfy others only when he learns to honor his own special intelligence and creatively look out for number one.

Today Is Tomorrow is grounded in educational research regarding multiple intelligences and how people learn. Kaleidoscopes are used as transportation to the realm of imagination and adventure.
